Where Awesome Moments Begin

About NSTRA

The National Shoot to Retrieve Association (NSTRA) was founded in the late 1960s by a passionate group of bird hunters with a simple but compelling idea: extend the upland bird hunting season beyond its brief few weeks each year. That idea took root. Today, NSTRA has grown into a thriving national organization with more than thirty geographic regions across the United States and Canada, thousands of members, and over 1,000 field trials conducted every year. Through decades of growth, the founding mission has never wavered — to extend the season through competitive field trials conducted in a sportsmanlike, family-friendly atmosphere.

The Georgia Region

The Georgia Region of NSTRA was established in 1990 and has been going strong ever since. We are a close-knit community of bird hunters who host field trials at venues across the state — competitive events held in a welcoming environment that the entire family can enjoy. Our calendar goes well beyond trial days: we gather for training clinics, new handler education sessions, judging seminars, and the kind of wide-ranging conversation that makes this community special — training tips, breeding recommendations, wild bird hunting destinations, and plenty of good stories around the tailgate. Within the Georgia Region, several member-organized private hunting clubs lease land from local landowners, giving members a dedicated place to train for NSTRA, AKC, NAVDA, and other competitions, as well as to pursue wild bird hunting together.
